Appliance Recycling and Disposal
Appliances including air conditioners, boilers, washers and dryers, dehumidifiers, dishwashers, freezers, furnaces, microwaves, ovens, refrigerators, stoves and water heaters have all been banned from Wisconsin landfills since 1991. The easiest way to dispose of old appliances is to get them hauled away when your new ones arrives. Disposal locations:

Batteries
Household disposable batteries are classified as non-hazardous and can be disposed of in your garbage carts. Alkaline batteries contain important metals that can be recycled. There are very few local placed where Alkaline batteries can be dropped off for recycling so mail in option are:

Electronic Recycling
Electronics must be recycled and dropped off at an E-Waste collector. Items will not be picked up with regular garbage per Wisconsin State Law. Items to e-cycle include but not limited to such as Cell phones, computers, monitors, TVs, laptops, printers, copiers, fax machines, DVD and VCR players, other video display devices, keyboards and mice, ink cartridges and speakers.

Fluorescent Light Bulb
All fluorescent bulbs, including compact fluorescent bulbs contain a small amount of mercury. Tube type fluorescent bulbs and CFL's may be brought to:

Latex and Water Base Paints
To dispose of latex paint, please consider giving usable paint to friends, neighbors, theater groups or housing assistance organizations. If you must dispose of latex paint:
- For small amounts: Remove the lid and let dry in the can. Occasionally stir the paint.
- For larger amounts: Mix with some kitty liter, sawdust, shredded newspaper to absorb the paint. Or spread layers on a piece of cardboard then throw it away in the garbage.
- Any oil based or lead based paints should be taken to a hazardous waste collection
Medical Sharps
Wisconsin law requires all citizens to safely manage needles, lancets and syringes. It is illegal to put sharps in the trash or with recyclables. Medical sharps are accepted at:
