City Parks

The City of Chilton offers park shelters and enclosed buildings for citizens to rent for their special event, such as a family reunion, company picnic, party, or get-together! Facilities may be rented from May 1st to September 30th each year, with reservations being accepted the first business day of the year by calling (920) 849-2451. All reservations require a completed Rental Agreement and payment within two (2) weeks of reserving the park.

The City of Chilton park system consists of nine (9) parks, along with a river walk which totals 56.24 acres. Hobart Park, Klinkner Park and Nennig Park have shelters/enclosed buildings/restrooms that can be rented. All parks are open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Rental and Security Deposit Fees (Hobart, Klinkner and Nennig Park Shelters/Enclosed Buildings)

The user shall pay $50 City Rental Fee per day, along with a $50 Security Deposit Fee. Payment and completed Rental Agreement must be received within two weeks of reserving the park. The user will be refunded the $50 Security Deposit Fee from the city after inspection of park is completed from the event. The City Rental fee includes the use of volleyball net, volleyball and horsehoes, which need to be reserved upon booking your event. Equipment (volleyball net, volleyball and horseshoes) must be picked up on the Friday prior to the park reservation by 4:30 p.m. Notification of cancellation 14 calendars days prior to the scheduled booking will allow for a full refund. Late notification will result in the city retaining the rental fee. No refund for inclement weather.
Payment can be made by cash, checks made payable to the City of Chilton or debit/credit card which is subject to a convenience fee.

Brewery Hill

Brewery Hill is a small-undeveloped side hill area about an acre in size located on the east side of Park Street across the street from the Chilton Public Library. The site's unique feature is a variety of trees donated by local residents and planted by the city, each identified by a small plaque.

Hobart Park - 231 W. Chestnut Street

This park is located along the banks of the river and adjacent to the Calumet County Fairgrounds. It has a picnic area with picnic tables and grills, a shelter, playground equipment, restrooms, bandstand, softball field, boat ramp for small boats/canoes and two exhibition buildings.

26' X 50 ' Open Shelter which includes 9 - Double Outlets (7 located inside serving side of shelter and 2 inside seating area of shelter). The shelter also includes a grill, along with approximately eight (8) picnic tables inside the shelter and eight (8) picnic tables outside the shelter.

Kiwanis Riverview Park

This park is located on the south side of E. Main Street along the river. This small .8 acre parcel of city owned land provides access to the river. Featuring prairie plants and other wildflowers the park provides passive recreational opportunities and receives some shoreline use.

Klinkner Park - 815 Memorial Drive

This park is located at the southern entrance to the city where STH 32/57 and USH 151 converge. This 5-acre park serves primarily as a picnic area with tables, grills, a shelter with restrooms, playground equipment, horseshoe pits and a sand volleyball court. The site also contains a Chilton Veterans' Memorial.

30' X 30 ' Open Shelter which includes 10 - Double Outlets. The shelter also includes a grill, along with approximately eight (8) picnic tables inside the shelter and eight (8) picnic tables outside the shelter.

Leahy Lions Lakeshore Park - 143 W. Main Street

This park is located along the shore of the millpond on West Main Street. The park provides a scenic sitting area looking over the Manitowoc River. This is a small park with a shelter/restroom building, picnic and playground facilities. Other facilities include a short wall with a handicapped accessible shoreline fishing pier and a boat ramp for small boats/canoes.

Morrissey Park - 509 School Court

This park is located on 12.3 acres of land that formerly housed the Chilton High School. This park includes the Chilton High School football field and track, tennis courts, and a shelter. This park also includes a community built playground. Additionally the city's Riverwalk meanders through the northern section of the park, which provides a walking/running/biking path along the Manitowoc River.

Nennig Park - 224 Dove Avenue - NO RENTALS FOR 2024

This park is located on 15.5 acres of land at the intersection of Dove and Canary Avenues in the northern portion of the city. This park has a shelter and restroom facility, three baseball diamonds, playground equipment and basketball courts.

23' X 31 ' Shelter which includes 10 - Double Outlets. The shelter also includes approximately eight (8) picnic tables inside the shelter and eight (8) picnic tables outside the shelter.

Optimist Riverwalk

The Optimist Riverwalk consisting of 3.94 acres is located on the southside of the river beginning at the Chilton Public Library and ending at Madison Street. This area has a paved walkway, fishing piers, tree plantings by Tree Board Members and flowers maintained by the Optimist Club.

Riverside Park - 139 E. Grand Street

Riverside park occupies a 1.2 acres site along the river on the southside of Grand St. near its intersection with Water Street. This is a small neighborhood park with playground equipment, picnic tables, grills and benches.

Recreational Resources

Lake Winnebago, Wisconsin's largest inland lake, which is located about eight (8) miles west of the City of Chilton, and the Niagara Escarpment, an important geologic feature that parallels the lake's eastern shoreline, are significant natural resources found in the Chilton area. The escarpment, known locally as "The Ledge," provides panoramic views across the lake from many locations.

The south branch of the Manitowoc River, which flows northeasterly through the city is the most important natural resource in Chilton. A dam on the stream behind the central business district creates the 9 acre Lake Chilton, which is seven feet deep. Small boat ramps at Hobart Park and Leahy Lions Lakeshore Park provide access to the water. Night lighting highlights the unique design of the dam and creates a memorable focal point for visitors passing through the city.
