What is Shop With A Cop?
In 2005 area law enforcement agencies began the Shop With A Cop Program.  This is a program to assist economically less fortunate youth and their family during the holiday season or families that have suffered a tragic event. The basics of the program include police officers accompanying the children to Walmart where each child is allowed to purchase items.  The goal of this program is to allow the children the opportunity to build positive relationships with law enforcement officers, while allowing the children the opportunity to shop for their families and to buy a gift for themselves.  After shopping, everybody gathers to wrap the presents and enjoy a party with Santa.

How Are the Children Picked?
Children are recommended for participation in the program by police department members, school employees, and social agencies. All children picked have a social or economic needs or has experienced a tragic event.  The child must also be a resident of the City of Chilton (or respective police department agency city) and not have participated in the past.
